BAD SECTOR Unification
Mixed in Lucca, February 2003.
based on the signals of
Virgo gravitational observatory,
located in Cascina (Italy).
As a source sound material, together with the real,
rough signal of the interferometer under its final test,
a set of short template signals has been used.
These templates were generated algorithmically by INFN and CNRS institutes
on Unix workstations, following their theories.
They correspond to events like supernovae explosions, neutron stars collapses etc.
The computing sub-system of EGO will search for signals similar to these
templates using, among the others, typical DSP techniques as matched filters and cross-correlation.
These basic sounds hase been treated using quasi-non-destructive processes: equalization,
comb filtering, pitch shifting, reverberations and time stretching
trying to remain coherent to the basic material.
Finally, treated sounds were assembled in a final structure.
This project is still under development:
its final version has been conceived to be be presented
live in a multimedia version.
